Queens Film Festival Nominated film "Memories of Mother" takes place in an alternative future in which humanity has turned to depending on bio-hacked batteries to give them energy through the day.
Although, in its dystopian allegory, the providers of "juice" is a monopolized company that overcharges for its services.
After the main character Manny loses his mother to a dead battery, he has to navigate his broken home, messy like a dorm room, with plants once taken care of by his mother dying, and mail stacking at his front door.
The business design of "Juice Co" was created in collaboration with the director, Lola Kenet, in an effort to make corporatized ads that give a conflicting sense of hope mixed with the reality of low-income immobility.
